Keith Jarrett Interview
listening to a very interesting interview with Keith Jarrett that I found through http://www.jazzexcursion.com/ (great jazz streaming site, btw). where does the music come from? "how do you do it?". --- Keith says he doesnt know: "I actually aspire to not know what I'm doing all the time..." Sounds odd doesn't it? But in the context of this interview I think he means he wants
to approach each performance without a preconceived idea about what he's going to do.

He also talks about how having some limits gives freedom -- limits like 88 keys, 10 fingers... limits like jazz standards -- enables a group to just sit down and play. But, he says his goal as an artist and in life is to "stay out of the corners; the corners are places you can't move in".
