saw the Pat Metheny trio - pat, christian mcbride, antonio sanchez - few weeks ago. gave me a new appreciation for pat's music. listen to all of the musical voices in one of his pieces. it's all him. he must have played a half a dozen different guitars during the concert. at one point he pulled out a guitar that had 4 or 5 different sets of strings.

saw Sonny Rollins last saturday. he's been around a while, right? but, man, he can still play.

the best musical performance I've seen recently is an incredible latin jazz DVD, a film titled Calle 54. Chano Domiguez blends jazz and flamenco in "Oye Como Viene". There are many great performances on this DVD but Chano's just knocks me out. You can check out clips on http://www.calle54film.com
