Chano!

I've mentioned Chano Dominquez previously in connection with an incredible DVD of Latin jazz artists titled Calle 54 but I wasn't hip to all of the great performances on YouTube at the time. I recommend Chano's performance of Oye Como Viene from Calle 54 on YouTube but here's another little journey in Chano's land of Latin jazz and Flamenco. BTW, he's performing in San Francisco on May 2.

On the deuce by 4-4

...Listen to the Melody on "Les Etudes Autoritaires des Herbie dans Jazz-Funk" aka "Dis is Da Drum". Ok, I made up that French title. The point is this is a masterwork of jazz/funk (IMHO) but Herbie has no pretensions -- Dis is Da Drum. This 1994 Herbie Hancock release is one of my favorite albums.
